The Verbal Beginnings team recently had the joy of attending the Maryland Association for Behavior Analysis (MABA) conference — and we didn’t just attend, we showed up.
As a Premier Level Sponsor, Verbal Beginnings was proud to support an event that brings together behavior analysts, students, researchers, and practitioners who are all committed to advancing the field and changing lives.
Verbal Beginnings at MABA
Our booth was busy throughout the day. From reconnecting with familiar faces to meeting new colleagues and students, it was a great opportunity to:
- Share more about Verbal Beginnings’ programs and service lines
- Talk with current and future BCBAs, RBTs, and students about careers and training
- Highlight the innovative work taking place across Verbal Beginnings.
- Our Director of Talent Acquisition was especially busy keeping up with the crowds eager to play plinko and grab some of our popular VB swag, adding even more fun and energy to the day.
We’re honored that MABA trusted us as a Premier Level Sponsor and grateful for the chance to pour back into a professional community that pours so much into kids and families.
VBA Students in Action
We were especially proud to see our VBA students stepping up to serve throughout the day.
Huge thank you to our volunteers: George, Gaby, and Vismaya.
These three VBA students gave their time and energy to support the conference logistics and operations, and the MABA staff were so appreciative. Their professionalism, warmth, and willingness to help did not go unnoticed and reflected Verbal Beginnings’ values beautifully.
Melanie on the Big Stage
One of the standout moments of the day was seeing VBA student Melanie take the stage to introduce Dr. Megan DeLeon Miller. Melanie did a phenomenal job — confident, clear, and polished — setting the tone for a powerful and highly relevant talk:
“ABLLS-R, AFLS, VB-MAPP, ESDM, PEAK!?!? Choosing the Right Assessment”
Dr. DeLeon Miller’s session dug into how clinicians can thoughtfully select and use assessment tools like ABLLS-R, AFLS, VB-MAPP, ESDM, and PEAK to guide programming and truly move the needle for learners.
Research on Display from Healthy Beginnings
The conference wasn’t just about talks and networking — Healthy Beginnings was also front and center with a poster presentation.
Julie did a fantastic job presenting the research conducted by Healthy Beginnings, answering questions, and talking through implications for feeding and clinical practice. Her ability to translate data into real-world impact highlighted the depth and quality of work happening within HB every day.
Clinical Supervisors and VBA Students Represent
Beyond the formal roles, it was just a great day to be together as a team. We had:
- A fun and engaged group of Clinical Supervisors
- Additional VBA students eager to learn, network, and grow
- Lots of shared “aha” moments, note-taking, and lively discussions between sessions
The conference was deeply educational, but also energizing. It gave our team space to reconnect with the “why” behind what we do — supporting meaningful, measurable change for children and families through high-quality ABA services.
Thank You for Representing VB So Well
To everyone who attended, volunteered, presented, or represented Verbal Beginnings at MABA this year: Thank You. You helped show the broader ABA community who we are:
- A team that invests in students and future clinicians
- A provider committed to research, quality, and best practices
- An organization that shows up fully — whether at the booth, on stage, or in the audience
We’re grateful for the opportunity to sponsor and participate in this year’s MABA conference, and we’re already looking forward to what’s next.
Thank you for representing Verbal Beginnings so well — and for continuing to change lives, one child and one professional at a time.
