May we come in?

Many times, behavior seen in the home will not be seen in an alternative setting, so the home can provide therapists the opportunity to target specific behaviors or skills that need work.

Learning at home can be very helpful for your child because they get to practice new skills in a place they’re comfortable and familiar with. Once they’ve mastered a skill, they can use it in many different situations, making it easier for them to succeed in their daily life.

School Consultation

Upon the parents’ request, our BCBAs will:

  • Review your child’s IEP (Individualized Education Program)
  • Evaluate the appropriateness of the goals
  • Evaluate the procedures and accommodations being utilized
  • Provide feedback to the family

BCBAs are also able to do things such as attend IEP meetings to discuss and compare goals, collaborate with the school team, and provide suggestions for strategies that can be implemented in the school setting. Lastly, the BCBA is able to conduct classroom observations and provide school observation reports to the family and school team.

Our BCBAs are also happy to collaborate with any private therapists as well. The coordination of services ensures that all care providers are continuing to use the most effective treatments across all environments.

Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) work closely with Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to develop and implement an individualized treatment plan to help your child increase language and communication skills, social skills, learn community safety, improve self-care, and behavior. Caregiver support is important to us. Our therapists will work closely with your family to provide the support and confidence needed to help your child maintain newly learned skills between our visits.

FAQ

Do we have a waiting list?

We do not have a waitlist because we do not want families waiting for services. If you contact us and we do not have availability in your area at that time, we will provide you resources to help you find providers who are available in your area. We are always recruiting and training new talent, so feel free to check back and see if availability has opened up after some time.

Do we use the VB-MAPP and/or provide VB instruction?

Yes! The majority of our therapists utilize the VB-MAPP assessment to assess children with deficits in the area of communication. The assessment is then used to create the communication goals needed and VB instruction is utilized to teach those skills. Learn more about the VB-MAPP here.

What does the process of beginning services look like?

View our ABA Therapy Process page for a detailed guide.

How long do children typically need ABA therapy?

This is really determined on a child-by-child basis and cannot be determined by anyone but the BCBA and treatment team working with your child. ABA is an ongoing therapy that can change and grow with your child to cater to their ever-changing needs as they continue to grow older.

How long has Verbal Beginnings been providing these services?

Verbal Beginnings has been providing in-home ABA therapy for over 13 years! We also have expanded our services over time to include not only in-home but also center-based services, feeding therapy, speech and occupational therapy, special events and more!
