In today’s BCBA feature you’ll meet Program Coordinator MacKenzie Barnard, hear what she loves most about her clients, and how Verbal Beginnings has given her a chance to grow as a clinician.
What’s the most rewarding part of your role at VB?
I love watching the growth of all of my clients and families as they learn from each other!
What’s the best part about working for VB?
VB provides so many opportunities to grow as a clinician, whether that be within your education or your career path. With VB the sky’s the limit!
How have you seen VB’s Core Values in action this last year?
On a daily basis I see all of VB’s core values in action. They are constantly disseminating information through articles, trainings, and in-house CEU’s. They also bring in amazing presenters such as Dr. Vincent Carbone, Dr. Charlie Catania, Dr. Patrick McGreevy, Manny Rodriguez, and more! At the Center, we get to collaborate with other clinicians every day in order to ensure that we are providing the best interventions possible to all clients.
What surprised you the most when you first started out at VB?
What surprised me the most was the way that VB felt like more than a job but a family!
What keeps you coming back each day?
To watch my clients and staff smile and have fun making a difference in each other’s lives.
What would you say to those just starting out their careers in ABA?
This field can be intense and grueling, but when you see the growth and progress in your clients, all of those hard times become worth it! There is nothing like hearing a child speak for the first time, and it will never get old!
