Access to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy is growing – which is great since 1 in 54 kiddos are diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. Over the past few years, the number of providers has grown significantly and with it, the number of options for families and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). Yet, whether you’re a parent searching for the best option for your child, or a professional looking for a rewarding career, it’s clear that ABA services and providers can differ significantly across the board. With that in mind, we thought it would be helpful to share 7 reasons why families and clinicians choose Verbal Beginnings (VB).
1. A Different Type of Leadership
Verbal Beginnings is privately owned and led by two BCBAs, who aren’t just experienced leaders of the organization, but experienced practitioners of ABA. Starting out as ABA Therapists themselves, they climbed the career ladder experiencing the ups and downs of every position. These experiences allowed them to understand the true needs of all ABA clinicians and provide the opportunities and resources necessary for all clinicians to reach their full potential and excel in a career that they love.
Ten years and counting for Verbal Beginnings! The decade of team development and administrative support create countless opportunities for clinicians seeking professional growth and the owners’ clinical experience keeps priorities focused on families and clinicians.
2. Support Programs for Parents
We love our kiddos, and we love our families too! At the core of our family-based approach is working with our caregivers, from the small to the big stuff. That means offering a variety of support programs for them, including ongoing training and education, as well as constant communication, feedback, and guidance from our therapists and staff so that our approach is a true partnership. We know caregiver participation is crucial to long-term success, so we invest in it at every stage of the treatment plan. Through our Pledge of Care, a commitment we make to effective treatment through compassionate care, VB holds itself to a higher standard.
3. Professional Growth and Development
Verbal Beginnings offers multiple levels of advancement for our RBTs and BCBAs. ABA Therapists receive an abundance of supervision, have access to tuition reimbursement to help build their careers, and are able to receive the national Registered Behavior Therapist (RBT) certification through their employment at Verbal Beginnings.
For BCBAs who are looking to become well-rounded clinicians, VB offers advancement opportunities as well. Starting out at VB as a new BCBA in the position of a Clinical Supervisor, allows the clinician to learn from senior BCBAs, receive structured training towards meeting their competencies, and receiving promotions to Senior Clinical Supervisor, then Clinical Coordinator, and eventually a Clinical Director.
At the end of the day, we want our staff to feel empowered, learn, and succeed while having fun, doing their best work, and developing lifelong relationships, that’s why we put advancement and training at the top of the list. Actually, last year 106 of our staff received their RBT or BCBA creds!
4. Dissemination in Action
We have a free CEU dissemination process that is becoming renowned worldwide (attendees in over 40 countries!). These free monthly webinars for any professional interested in learning, span a variety of topics including vocal stereotypy, ethics, caregiver training, burnout, removing barriers for effective treatment, and more. If you missed a webinar, no worries, anyone can watch our past CEUs as webinars on our Verbal Beginnings University page!
5. Ongoing Consultations
For us, it’s not enough to run a great ABA practice. This is why our partnerships with key schools, associations, researchers, and leaders in the field of behavior analysis are part of our DNA. Dr. A. Charles Catania hosts monthly Innovation talks with our employees aimed at spurring research and innovation in ABA. Dr. Vincent Carbone came in for a workshop at our Center (watch the video!). Manny Rodriguez, DBA, BCBA consulted with VB to help integrate Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) into our business operations.
6. Commitment to Quality
We’re proud of our Accreditation, certifications, and partnerships with amazing organizations! Verbal Beginnings’ BHCOE Accreditation, ACE and Safety-Care certifications, and CASP partnership are examples of our commitment to best practices. For families and staff alike, our dedication to continuous improvement and drive for clinical excellence ring true and keeps them at the forefront of our mission of Changing Lives. One child at a time. One professional at a time.
7. Our staff leads the charge!
Our staff is incredible! We have to take a moment to brag about them since they are really what makes VB what it is today and what it will be tomorrow. Last year, our clinicians helped our kiddos master thousands of goals, delivering hundreds of thousands of service hours, and changing hundreds of lives! And beyond the therapy, over 150 of our staff participated in programs that really separates VB from the rest: Diversity & Inclusion Council, Everest mentorship and career planning program, Verbal Beginnings Academy, and more. We’re giving them a shout-out because at the end of the day, our staff is what makes us truly unique.
At Verbal Beginnings, we don’t just talk the talk, we walk the walk. Every day, we change lives. Interested? Let’s talk!
