Now that 2021 has ended and 2022 has officially started, we wanted to give you a Verbal Beginnings in the Community wrap-up of the past year!
As with each new year, it had its share of challenges, yet it was also a very special year of hope that came with exciting new opportunities for Verbal Beginnings within the community. During the past 10 years, we have always worked to set a higher standard by doing what is necessary to continuously improve and make ourselves even better. One of the best things to come from this reflective work ethic is our Pledge of Care.
We pledge to provide effective treatment through compassionate care from a knowledgeable and professional team that forms compassionate, dependable, and caring relationships with families. The relationships we build with families should be meaningful and the experience of ABA therapy should be a supportive service for not just the child, but the entire family.
When the pandemic first hit in 2020, all events, including Sensory Friendly activities, unfortunately, had to be canceled. Even as the world started to open, it still seemed like these types of events vanished leaving parents feeling stressed and overwhelmed without a way to have their child have fun and socialize in an inclusive environment. When it became safe, we brought back the exciting opportunities for Sensory Friendly Events. Check out the Verbal Beginnings in the Community end-of-year wrap-up below and stay tuned by following us on social media (@verbalbeginnings) for exciting surprises in 2022!
Sensory Friendly Trunk or Treat!
We had a spooky time collecting candy, playing fun Halloween games, and lots of jumping on a moon bounce! With special appearances by our VB staff volunteer trunks, Howard County Fire Department, and Howard County Police Department, we had over 300 people attend this event.
Sensational Seasonal Sensory Events!
Locations: Columbia, Millersville, & Havre de Grace
We had not one, but THREE different holiday events to give even more kids in different areas the chance to attend. These Seasonal Sensory Celebrations were for children within every spectrum of special needs & their families. Everyone enjoyed festive fun sipping on cocoa while making crafts, decorating cookies, playing games, writing & delivering their wish list, visiting with our Sensational Santa, and having a chance to take photos – all in an inclusive environment!
While 2021 is now officially in the books, we are just about ready to share the awesome, inspiring, and amazing events coming your way for 2022. Get ready!
